What are some neat wedding centerpiece ideas for a rainbow themed wedding?
Posted by admin | Under Wedding Centerpiece Ideas Wednesday Jul 7, 2010I am planning my wedding for June, 2011. My fiance and I booked our wedding hall a few days ago and I am not allowed to burn any candles, so all of my candle ideas for centerpieces are out the window. I have a rainbow theme and am now I’m looking for eccentric centerpiece ideas that won’t cost me an arm and a leg.
I was thinking perhaps something with colorful fish but am not sure on that. Seems like it might be a pain in the butt to deal with. Any opinions on colorful fish?
I’m not really interested in floral centerpieces unless someone has an idea that is more creative than the average bouquet centerpiece.
I also want to add that while this is a rainbow themed wedding, it is not a pride wedding, nor is it an Irish "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" wedding, so thank you, but I don’t need any ideas centering around those specific themes.
At this point, however, I’m pretty much open to anything as long as it sticks to the theme and is creative. I have a limited budget but want my wedding to compliment my loud personality. I have a lot of time to plan this but am a little stumped. HELP!
I am completely ANTI-fish at weddings. Half of them die before dinner even begins, and there’s nothing grosser than eating while a dead fish floats in the center of the table. Plus, there is usually no one to take care of the fish afterward, and they get flushed, which is pretty cruel.
Would it be too weird to have candy centerpieces? Hear me out. I went to a wedding this summer with some "kid tables" set up in a corner with coloring books, etc. The centerpieces were awesome – clear glass jars filled with Skittles, topped with "bouquets" of colorful lollipops held up with floral foam. They were way more fun and colorful than the "grown-up table" centerpieces. Plus they were totally budget-friendly.
I dunno if this would be corny or not but you can buy clear glass bowls and put fake fish in them like rainbow colores and get those smooth different colored rocks and place in the bowl and they should be cheap?

Not exactly sure but for favours you could have chocolate gold coins like the pot at the end of the rainbow!

I wish I lived near you!! I would love to do a wedding theme using fish! I tried to attach a photo of a fab design but can’t get it to paste.
One idea is to buy huge gold fish bowls for each table. Add coloured fish, and pebbles and small submersible lights. You get the lighting effect without the naked flame. The lights come in a multitude of colours so you could match it to your colour scheme.
Another one is to buy large rectangular tall glass vases. Have one or two goldfish swimming around in them and submerge orchid heads attached to wire and weighted down around a base of pebbles. This looks absolutely fantastic and if you guy singapore orchids they’re not very expensive at all and last ages. It will look as though the orchids are suspended in water whilst the fish are moving around. You could also add the same submersible lights.

Having a "theme" for a wedding is lame, especially rainbows. This is your marriage, not prom.

Fish SEEM like a good idea, but they aren’t! Because at the end of the night, you and your new hubby go home, and your bridal party is stuck figuring out what to do with 18 bowls of fish! Please don’t have fish.
What about having each table have a different colored candy centerpiece? You could get different size/shape clear glass containers and fill them with all of one color candy (variations of rock candy, hard candies, m’n'ms, skittles, etc.). That way, together all the tables fill the colors of the rainbow, without there being an overt rainbow extravaganza.
Having each table use white linens and plates, and then having all the paper products and candies etc. be matching would be really poppy. It’d be very whimsical.

You could use glass bricks with a string of lights inside that would cast a rainbow of color effect.
Beautiful and colorful feathers in crystal vases
Hang prisms from small trees (like those you see at Easter) and intersperse small picture frames (key chain size) with the pictures of those who will be sitting at each table. That way your guests will have something unique and memorable from your special day.

What about multicoloured ostrich feathers in a glass vase – they look great

Hire a lighting company to light your reception area using prisms. Make giant prisms for your tables. These need to be elevated. If they were on end, like a column, the guests could see around the table better. Place them on mirrored surfaces. http://amasci.com/amateur/pris.html
