WEDDING PRESENTS THAT HAVE TO BE EXPERIENCED TO BE BELIEVED

Thursday Jul 1, 2010

Difficult economic times may be the reason behind a trend in which more and more newlyweds are opting for cash over traditional wedding gifts.

When a leading wedding magazine interviewed couples on their gift preferences, 45% said they’d prefer cash while gift vouchers towards the cost of the honeymoon was the gift of choice by 27% of respondents.  But while the newlyweds may prefer cash, it’s not everyone’s preference as some people find it a bit impersonal and a bit confronting.

Of course, gift registries have gone a long way in taking the guesswork out of gift-giving but they too can be a bit impersonal. When it comes to choosing something special for a couple on their wedding day, why not think out of the box?.  In other words, think outside of the regular box that holds the toaster, the crockery, the bathware or the kitchen accessories – consider something out of the ordinary …. This is the gift of experience.

A new concept for wedding gifts is a gift voucher for the couple that takes them somewhere or gets them doing something that they may never ordinarily do – thus creating magic memories.  The range of activites is huge, from scenic flights and hot air ballooning gifts, to adrenalin pumping stunt driving giftsand rally driving gifts to less energetic pursuits such as wine tours, dolphin tours, fishing charters and yacht cruises.  There’s an activity to suit all tastes and interests – from thrill-seekers and sports nuts to laid-back lovers.  Now doesn’t that sound better than a salad bowl or a set of cooking pots?

And if the research is right and couples are really wanting help with their honeymoon, it could be an idea to link the experience with their time away.  Now that may mean resorting to some inventive measures to get the information on the destination out of the groom – but hey, it just could be the icing on the (wedding) cake for the happy couple.

Imagine the scenario – a couple has just tied the knot in Sydney Australia and they’re headed to the country from some much-needed downtime. Picture their excitement when they unwrapped an envelope giving them an experience of a lifetime on a hot air balloon or indulging in pure bliss at a romantic day spa?  It would be a gift to remember.
