In spite of the recent economic downturn a fortuitous investment resulted in a small cash windfall for the family coffers. My wife and I have been on a cash restricted existence for several months so we felt our spirits would be brightened by a bit of travel.

I rarely travel without a reason but travel is its own reward for my wife. My purpose for this trip was to make my wife happy – always a good reason. Since this trip was for her I let her pick the destination. We found ourselves going to the downtown area of a large nearby city. My wife needed a specific shade of brown boots to complete a new outfit. I was basically a chauffeur.

I have learned to predict most actions but I am still occasionally surprised.

In my support role in the shopping team I find occasion to practice my own particular male hobby. A nice meal in a quiet romantic restaurant is also an excellent reason to take a short trip. A friendly and efficient waitress is as much a treat as a glimpse of some nice scenery.
