so, here’s my dilemna. i have bought about 75 candles, and i was planning on putting them in mason jars and dispersing them over out 14 8ft. tables. the wedding is in july on a farm, so we’re doing the whole country theme. our colors are ivory, gold, chocolate, and shades of red. so i got these red candles, and then i discover they are slightly too large to fit in the mason jars! we’re going for an ourdoorsy theme, so we need some new cheap (cheap!) ideas to replace the mason jar and candle idea! preferably something we can do in red, since half of the tableclothes are chocolate and the other half are brown gingham. we thought maybe something with apples…but what? or even an idea to replace the mason jars, because if we don’t put the candles in something they’ll blow out since it’s outside. help!
my grandmother (the wedding’s at her house) suggested cutting down the red candles to fit with a potato peeler or melting down the sides. will this look ridiculous?
i heard of someone putting seedling pine trees as center pieces and then the ones that won them off the table took them and planted the trees. it was a neat idea. of course we live in michigan. depending on where you live, you could do something that could grow outside afterward. i am not sure what plants you could use. i liked the pine tree idea.

Table centerpiece ideas for my wedding reception?
Posted by admin | Under Wedding Centerpiece Ideas Sunday Aug 29, 2010I am interested in floating candles with rose petals…and I also like the real tall vases with flowers and maybe some kind of floating candles around them? Kinda on a budget so I don’t want to go overboard…any nice ideas?
What I think would look really cool is to get a big tall vase, put a red rose in it (totally INSIDE the vase), hold it down with pretty rocks, fill the vase with water (so the rose is totally submerged in the water) and on the top of the water put some floating candles.
The rose will still "breathe" while underwater, so it’ll look really cool with shiny little air bubbles. The floating candles will just tie it all together
Good luck and congrats!
Wedding Centerpiece ideas?
Posted by admin | Under Wedding Centerpiece Ideas Sunday Aug 29, 2010I want to do something fun and different for my wedding center pieces, and i thought about getting blank cards and leaving a few cards, colored paper and neat pens in the center of the table (along with a bud vase with 2 roses) So that guests could write special thoughts, comments and messages and put them in a scrap book after the wedding. Does this sound like a good idea, or does it sound too cheesy, or low class???
I like that idea. I think it will be fun for the guests. I went to a wedding that had fabric squares that people could write a wedding message on that the couple was going to have made into a quilt. It was really neat.
