Any ideas on how a dog should carry the rings for a simple beach wedding?

Sunday Feb 28, 2010

My fiance and I are planning to have a simple beach wedding. We love dogs and want our dog to be the ring bearer. I’m just looking for ways she can carry the rings without using a pillow. I really want to put the rings in a ball or something. Has anyone heard or seen how a ball/stick/rope can be used for this purpose? Any other creative ideas? Thanks for your input!

I saw this once at a wedding and it was adorable! What they did was they found a really cute t-shirt/tank top (wedding colors, of course) and then they had the rings in a really tiny color coordinated bag that they stuck on the top side of t-shirt – it looked like it belonged and she just quickly sewed it on. The she wrapped the rings in plastic and stuck them in there. She said it took her 5 seconds and they were secure, because obviously the pup couldn’t get to them and they weren’t bothering her. Then her groom had a begging strip in his pocket if it was needed, but it wasn’t — the pup saw them and went bouncing down the beach really quickly. It was too cute! She made the tiny bag from a gift bag she saw – just cut and glued it.

I’ve seen a pretty ribbon tied around the dog’s neck and the rings attached

use fake rings, God forbid they are lost

i would advise against it , because what are you going to do with the dog after wards chances are your reception venue isn’t going to want him there. who will take care of him after the wedding ?

So you would like her to carry them in some kind of toy in her mouth?

I would maybe take a bone toy – kong has one out. My dog has it. Then tie a ribbon to each end with the rings tied on. With this idea though you will have to be very careful.

I think myself I would tie the ribbon with the rings tied on to her collar. It maybe a little safer.

You could get a ball and put the rings inside and then some one could walk the dog upto you while the dog is nudging the ball along.

I luv my love:

maybe at a craft store you can find a clear easter egg or round ball, the plastic kind that breaks in the middle. put the fake rings in there and tie it around the dog’s neck with a ribbon that matches the bridesmaids dresses. make sure the best man has the real rings to hand to the officiant during the ceremony- you don’t want to trust a dog with thousands of dollars of jewelry on such an important day.

I’d get (or make ) a cute wedding vest for the dog. On top of the vest (on top of the back) tie ribbons to which you’ll tie the rings onto.

Leave the dog out of it. This has overtaken alot of tackiness.
